Blogs are just another form of journaling, they allow me to consolidate and organise the chaos of thoughts from my mind, into a consumable form which I can easily refer back to. And since they are public for everyone to see, this also promotes me to actively think about how I articulate these thoughts.
Being so transparent about everything including my flaws, will certainly pose as a double edged sword while I am job seeking, depending on how people see it. But this is what I want to do, for better self awareness and avoiding pitfalls. Everyone has problems, just that some are better at hiding them than others or not notice them at all.
Why publicise? Public accountability so I can turn creative writing into a regular habit. Also it’s about putting myself out there. Being uncomfortable and not caring about sounding stupid or shallow, to people with much profound and refined ideas on the discussed topics. Further more, each and every blog is an open invitation for healthy discussions and for those in the trenches, dealing with the same struggles.
Also why write again? Generative AI. They have become an integral part of our lives, we use them for absolutely everything, even for the most trivial of tasks. But writing is a skill that I definitely don’t want to lose, as most of the communications I do these days is online. I am not totally against AI as I use them all the time myself for coding tasks and general advice. I see them nothing more than just abstract tools, comparable to code libraries, that can help us accomplish complex tasks faster but on a much higher level. You just need to be mindful of how you use them or they will gradually strip away your critical thinking skills, creativity and most importantly, authenticity.
